Rates and Mechanism of the Reactions of Aquaoxomolybdenum(V) Dimer with Vanadium(V)

Abstract

|
The kinetics of the reaction of [Mo2O4(H2O)6]2+ with VO2+ have been studied at 25℃ by spectrophotometric method. Stoichiometry of the oxidation of [Mo2O4(H2O)6]2+ is followed as Mo2Ⅴ + 2VⅤ ↔ 2MoⅥ + 2VⅣ. Observed rate constants are dependent on [H+] and [VO2+]. Mechanism for the redox of [Mo2O4(H2O)6]2+ and VO2+ is proposed and discussed.
